Headlining The Big Day Out it was great to welcome to the Scottish Borders, prior to their UK tour in the Autumn, one of Scotland’s finest and most successful bands, “Deacon Blue”.
They ‘wowed’ the packed out Big Top crowd with all their legendary hits including Dignity, Real Gone Kid and Chocolate Girl among many others. Ricky pleased the locals by wearing one of the Galashiels’ festival rosettes, and drummer, Dougie Vipond received a special crowd welcome due to his popularity on BBC Scotland as a sports presenter.

Scottish Ska sensations, “This R 2 Tone” returned for the 2nd year running to get the crowd jumping, delivering an energetic show incorporating the sounds of The Specials, Madness, The Beat and Bad Manners. One of the highlights of their set was getting all the kids on stage to dance along to Baggy Trousers, bringing great music to a new generation. As you will see from our photo gallery we had a very young Ska fan in the audience enjoying every minute.
